St Peter Chanel Catholic Primary School

Bexley, Kent

St Peter Chanel Catholic Primary School is situated on the Kent border, 15 miles from Central London, in a semi-rural location. It is a one form of entry Catholic voluntary aided school in the Archdiocese of Southwark. More than half the lessons were being undertaken in temporary classrooms, therefore the brief was to provide new accommodation to replace the temporary classrooms together with improvements to the existing buildings and site.

The site is located in a Metropolitan green belt, set adjacent to Footscray Meadows, which impacted on the design. The resultant building comprised a new single storey annexe with four key stage 2 classrooms together with toilets, staff and administration facilities. The new annexe is linked to the existing building via a new glazed walkway. Additional playground and staff parking areas have also been provided.

Evolution acted as Architectural consultants to Faithorn Farrell Timms for this project.
